When To Fight

Mental illness is tricky, it's not something anyone else can fully understand much less those that aren't going through it themselves. Probably why those that suffer from it rarely can navigate their way out of it, because unless you know sanity, or rather living without the complex life of mental unbalance, then you can't find your way to where you never been.  Seeking help is the only way, problem there is, someone must find you before they can help you navigate to the balance. While medicines and medical treatments can aid like a compass or a beacon, they are also know to be a hindrance under bad circumstances, like the compass near magnetically strong areas or a beacon to attract predators, they are generally helpful yet have their problems. Knowing what one is dealing with and how to start is the hardest step. Logic is straight forward, while it doesn't make sense in chemical imbalance or traumatic influence, so stay away from logically sound notions and/or understanding. Rationalizing the response is one thing rationalizing the cause will never be very rational at all, mainly because if it was the brain wouldn't be of its rocker, so to speak.

The reason for mental instability is because the brain can't make sense of what is wrong, essentially to come close to understanding how it feels one must subject oneself fully into the world of Alice in Wonderland, or Dorthy in the world of Oz. Your lost don't know where you are even more so you want to be among everyone and everything you know, but you have no idea how to get there. And while Alice was fortunate that the the white rabbit came along, the real world doesn't just send anyone to help. Actually in real life it takes the sufferer to request, to seek out, to continually fight for help and translate what they do not understand to others who have no idea what they are translating.

Then, even if they receive help the sufferer will be lucky to find a guide that is willing to get lost finding them, while remembering how to get back. I have know many individuals who have tried to help others only to be lost themselves, sometimes before even finding the others.

My reference is meant as a doctor or friend, one who seeks out the sufferer, trying to understanding what the sufferer is going through, getting lost. Once they have an understanding, the individual finds the sufferer, they assist with various treatments, utilizing tools like compass or beacon, to help the sufferer find sanity or some form of it, brings them to civilization.

Even as many go along its not likely to be just a hope, skip, and a jump along. Realizing they have tried various directions and ways of getting around and have become content with doing certain things, and terrified of others. So as you navigate the area they have been in, fears, joys, falls, and achievements ate around every bend and over every hill. The sufferer knows the terrain, far better than the individual trying to help them, the problem is the sufferer can't find their way beyond. Getting caught in the woods or what lies there is only so much of the problem, while attempting to get out of the woods is the ultimate goal, it's not the end. Like the saying goes you take the dog out of the fight, but you can't take fight out of the dog. Well you might be able to take the sufferer out of instability, they only get lost again and again if they don't understand how they got back. So understanding what is a point of instability and how to overcome it, may not be important right away, it is something to utilize as points of reference, or rather navigation to find ones way back.

You may not take the fight out of the dog, but then again you don't want to, you need to find a means of making it productive. Just as so, you won't be able to take instability out of one that suffers from it, still that should never be the goal.  The goal should be to take them out of instability and learn to be productive with it, even as the key to being an extraordinary individual them self. We all have our niche, so to speak, and being one with mental imbalance pronounces it more than others. Because of this, it will be obvious in many cases, but sometimes it is again trial-and-error. Finding a productive way to remain stable and a successful productive member of society is the best way to ensure one continues to find their way out of the woods, and back to where they ate meant to be.

And sometimes they really are meant to be in the woods, and the woods in them.
